FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — In a Facebook video, Franklin County Schools superintendent Kopp and deputy superintendent Six announce the shift to Non-Traditional Instruction days to help slow the spread of COVID.

Kopp announces there are 89 positive cases of COVID in the district while quarantining 656 students.

The schools will be using five NTI days starting next week, Monday, August 30 through Friday, September 3.

"We are using NTI next week in the hopes of reducing our positive COVID-19 cases and the numbers of quarantined staff and students."

After-school programs will be available for childcare purposes and sports will continue as long as proper mitigation strategies are implemented and followed.

Students should plan to return back in-person on Tuesday, September 7.
