CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — A tornado roared through northern Taylor County right around 3:15 Saturday morning.

It's not certain how strong the tornado was, but its power is being felt by just about everyone here in one way or another.

There were 70 homes destroyed or significantly damaged, according to Taylor County Emergency Management.

One woman was killed when her mobile home was destroyed. Many others who survived the damage had to wait up to two hours to get help.

"I don't really know where to turn from here," said Chris Wilson.

Wilson puts himself in the middle of trauma almost daily. He's a nurse in Louisville and has gone with church groups to tornado sites in Joplin, Missouri and West Liberty, Kentucky.

"We have lived here about a year. We have been fixing it up. Putting our own touches on it. Just finished our kitchen table which is now in pieces."

His story is one of dozens in Pleasant Hill and Saloma Road areas of Taylor County.

With a state of emergency in place, government is ready to step in, but to Chris Wilson, others friends provide the real relief.

"Close community. Good neighbors. Good friends."
