LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — An 8th horse has died at Churchill Downs after suffering a leg injury on Sunday.

The track's spokesperson says 3-year-old Rio Moon broke its leg at the finish line in the sixth race today.

There were seven horse deaths over a 10 day span, including two on the day of the Kentucky Derby.

Four were due to leg injuries, one was injured in the paddock, and two died of unknown causes.
