SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A former Scott County deputy was arrested overnight in Lexington on shoplifting charges.

According to an arrest citation, Silas Whitehead turned himself in early Monday morning. Documents allege that between the dates of Feb. 23 and May 1, Whitehead committed multiple acts of theft from the Walmart on New Circle Road where he was employed.

Officials say he mostly stole groceries. At the time he was also still an active deputy.

Whitehead was relieved of his duties with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office on May 6.

The sheriff’s department had no comment on the situation.
