LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – On Saturday in Lexington more than 250 athletes from central Kentucky competed to qualify for the State Special Olympics Games.
The track and field meet at Frederick Douglass High School kicked off with an opening ceremony. Athletes then took part in different events throughout the day.
People with specials needs of all ages were excited to participate and cheer on their teammates.
The State Special Olympics meet is the first weekend in June at Eastern Kentucky University.
