KANSAS CITY, Mo. (LEX 18) — Game day is here, and the Kentucky wildcats are just 40 minutes away from a trip to the Final Four.
While the Cats spent Saturday preparing for tonight’s Elite Eight match-up, fans got to enjoy Kansas City.
Fans are ready to fill the stands in the Sprint Center come tip-off, but in the meantime they managed to have some fun and try out some fantastic Kansas City food.
Of course, on the top of every fans’ list was trying the famous Kansas City barbecue.
Arthur Bryant’s Barbeque restaurant recently was packed with UK and Auburn fans.
Everyone gave rave reviews of the food, but as for the game match-up there were some mixed feelings.
Fans from both teams say it will be a tough game, but they’re glad to see the SEC represent.
“It’s really cool. The SEC is a great conference, and at least one team is going to the Final Four,” said
UK fan Ralph Hildabrand.
Fellow UK fan Nate Grayson agreed.
“I thought it was really cool at the end of the Auburn game when the crowd, including the Kentucky fans, started chanting ‘SEC’!” said Grayson.
“Yeah, it’s a strong conference,” said Auburn fan Katie Bassein. “The coaches are strong and the players are strong and the conference has shown it’s tough all year long and I think it’s representative of what we’ve done all year long and I’m so proud, you know, of both teams.”
Auburn fans say they expect this place to feel like Rupp Arena because of all the True Blue fans here.
In fact, a Kentucky pep rally is planned for around 11.
