The first home game for FC Cincinnati as part of the MLS will be a packed house.

Officials with FC Cincinnati announced that Nippert Stadium is sold out.

Nippert Stadium will house 32,250 people Sunday.

Officials advise fans to arrive early.

The University of Cincinnati parking garages will be available at 12 p.m. for the fans.

The stadium gates will open at 3:30 p.m.

FC Cincinnati plays Portland Timbers at 5 p.m. Sunday.

n just three years, FC Cincinnati has gone from inception, to the United Soccer League, to becoming the 24th team of Major League Soccer.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber credits the fans and the visionaries like FCC President Jeff Berding and owner Carl Linder III, who have captured the spirit of the city.

Garber remembers first becoming excited by FCC when 30,000 fans jammed into Nippert Stadium to see then-USL Cincinnati take on MLS Powerhouse.

“There’s something special happening here. You see the town painted blue and orange, and that woke us up,” Garber said.

Garber and league executives were impressed, but say it was the work of Linder, Berding and Mayor John Cranley that laid the foundation for FCC’s pitch.
