Emergency crews respond Sunday morning to a crash along Harrodsburg Road.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington Police are investigating an early morning crash that left two teen brothers dead and the driver seriously injured.

Lexington Police Spokeswoman Brenna Angel said the crash happened about 3:40 a.m. in the 1800 block of Harrodsburg Road.

Angel said an 18-year-old was driving a Toyota Prius when he left the roadway and crashed into a tree well off the roadway.

She said emergency crews were not called to the scene until 8:40 a.m., after a pedestrian spotted the wreck.

The Fayette County Coroner pronounced two brothers, ages 17 and 15, who were passengers in the car, dead at the scene.

Their names have not been released by the coroner’s office, but an e-mail from Sayre School sent to parents identified the teens as Neo and Roan Sanders.

The father of one of the boy’s contacted LEX 18 saying that they were half-brothers.

The driver was taken to an area hospital with severe leg injuries, according to police.

The letter to Sayre parents identified the driver as Sayre Upper School student Bobby Puckett. The letter states that Puckett remains in the ICU at UK Hospital.

The crash closed the roadway for hours as crews worked to clear and reconstruct the crash scene.

Coroner’s office officials said speed likely was a factor in the crash.
