RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) — It has been nearly three weeks since a young Madison County mother disappeared after leaving a Lexington bar.
Savannah Spurlock’s mother says she is living a nightmare and tells LEX 18 that some people are contacting the family trying to take advantage of them during this awful time.
Richmond police trying to find Spurlock have been working around the clock. But, sadly, so are scammers who are trying to extort money from her family.
The 22-year-old mother of four was last seen leaving a Lexington bar in the company of two men in the early morning hours of Jan. 4. Since then, the case of her disappearance has been shared all over social media in the hope that someone knows where to find her.
But with good intentions come some individuals with bad ones. People have been texting the family and messaging them over social media, claiming they can help — for the right price.
One message, sent to Spurlock’s mother, reads: “Send us 8 Bitcoin to below address. Now be smart or never see her again. you have 12 hours.”

Spurlock’s mother says this is just one of many heartless messages the family has received.
“It’s like a made-up account just to mess with us. I don’t understand why people could be so cruel at a time like this,” Ellen Spurlock told LEX 18’s Leigh Searcy.
