LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Three Laurel County men are facing federal kidnapping charges for an incident that occurred more than a year ago.

The men are accused of abducting and hold a man who they believed had stolen a truck, and then torturing him until he told them where it was located.

Court documents unsealed last week lay out a disturbing series of events.

Authorities allege that 32-year-old Sean Frederick enlisted 32-year-old Eric Collins nad 27-year-old Nigel Medlin in a kidnapping plot after Frederick suspected a man had stolen his truck.

After luring the man to a meeting in the guise of a drug deal, the three allegedly held him and two other people at gunpoint and forced them to drive to a home in northern Laurel County.

There, the three suspects and another man who is cooperating with prosecutors allegedly tied the man to a chair and beat him, breaking his jaw.

When he denied stealing the truck, the men allegedly burned him with a torch and forced him to take methamphetamine.

They’re also accused of pulling out three of his teeth and breaking a fourth.

According to court documents, the victim eventually admitted to stealing the truck for meth and told the men where they could find it.

All three men are being held in local jails until detention hearings can be held in the case.
