Lexington Police Announce ‘Operation Fa La La Larceny’ Shoplifting Arrests

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police on Monday announced dozens of shoplifting arrests as part of what it calls “Operation Fa La La Larceny.”

Police said the arrests were part of a joint operation with the Kentucky Organized Retail Crime Association from Dec. 3 to 6 and focused on the Nicholasville Road retail centers.

Police said 53 people were charged and more than $8,000 in stolen goods were recovered.

Officials said jewelry, clothing, cosmetics, alcohol and more were among the items recovered.

Police said they made 47 arrests, issued 10 criminal citations and served seven arrest warrants as part of the operation.

In addition to theft by unlawful taking (shoplifting) charges, several of those arrested also were accused of possession of a controlled substance, theft by deception and possession of burglary tools.
