CLINTON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Albany man Saturday morning after he was accused of violently attacking his 3-year-old niece with a knife.
Authorities say 33-year-old Emanuel Fluter was taken into custody just before 6:30 a.m. at a home in the 1200 block of Beaty Creek Road.
According to an arrest citation, Fluter went into the toddler’s bedroom and slit her throat. The girl’s father, Fluter’s brother-in-law, rushed into the room “after hearing the screams on the baby monitor and tried to disarm Fluter,” the citation says.
Reportedly the brother-in-law was cut with the knife. The Clinton County Sheriff said the man received a minor injury to one hand.
The police report says there were also four other children in the room at the time the girl was attacked.
Clinton County Sheriff Jim Guffey told LEX 18 that the girl was flown from a medical center in Albany to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Guffey said the child was in surgery as of early Saturday afternoon.
Neighbors tell LEX 18 that the family has 9 children and that they are a normal, loving family. They were shocked by what happened.
do that” said one neighbor.
Fluter was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment. Guffey said he was being held on $500,000 bail. More charges in the case are possible.
Jail officials tell LEX 18 there is no mugshot available for Fluter at this time because he has been acting too violently for a picture to be taken.
