FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– An officer-involved shooting in Frankfort has injured two people, including a law enforcement officer. A woman in the vehicle was arrested on scene for actions that police say interfered in the arrest of the suspect.

It started around 3 a.m. on US 127 at Westridge Road and ended at Leonardwood Drive near the Kroger. Kentucky State Police says the incident began as a pursuit with Frankfort Police, then their department got involved.

The man police were chasing was the one shot and he is now undergoing surgery at Frankfort Regional Hospital.

An officer was also injured during the incident, but not by gunfire. He is at Frankfort Regional Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. A female in the vehicle, identified as Sherry Lindle, was arrested and charged with several crimes including resisting arrest. Police say Lindle was in the vehicle with the man who was shot by police. It was her actions, officials say, that enabled the suspect to get back in his car and flee.

The road was closed for around four hours.
