LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Authorities have identified the man found shot to death Friday at his welding business on Lexington’s east side as police continue to investigate the crime.

The Fayette County Coroner said 57-year-old Clarence T. Henley was declared dead after being found at Henley Welding and Iron Works, 1101 Delaware Ave.

Detectives are investigating the case as a homicide, but so far there has been word on suspects in the case.

The employees who worked for Henley are grieving his loss.

“To say this is shock to all of us, that’s an understatement,” said Emmit Adams. “He was very generous. I’ll put it that way. He took care of his people. He was all business, he knew his business.”

Lexington police received a call about 8 a.m. Friday after an employee apparently found Henley with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Other employees arrived to find their workplace blocked by police and coroner’s officers.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Frankfort later Saturday.
