Two Arrested After Burglary, Disturbance at Lexington Kroger

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington Police have arrested two people after a burglary and quite the disturbance at a grocery store.

Reportedly the loss prevention team at the Kroger on Tates Creek noticed on Saturday morning that someone had broken in overnight and stolen a lot of cigarettes.

Police said loss prevention employees then recognized the burglar from the surveillance video when he returned to the store on Saturday afternoon and tried to steal again.

Reportedly when employees and an officer tried to stop the man, he started fighting them.

A citizen even jumped in to help restrain the man, that person was bit by the alleged thief.

The man was arrested and is facing several charges.

Officers also identified a second man who was involved; reportedly they found him and a car used in the overnight burglary. Police said he will likely face charges as well.

The names of the men involved have not yet been released.
