LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – A black bear created quite the stir in one Laurel County community on Saturday.
The bear was reportedly spotted near the Blackwater community off Hwy 1803.
A group of about 30 to 40 people gathered to watch the bear, while Kentucky State Police troopers and Fish and Wildlife officers responded to the area.
Fish and Wildlife officers believe the group of people scared the bear and that’s why it wouldn’t move from the tree it was spotted in.
Officers cleared the area and it came down on its own unharmed.
Reportedly officials did fire a few shots into the air to startle the bear in an attempt to get it to come down.
