Kentucky Woman Tragically Drowns In Emerald Isle

EMERALD ISLE, N.C.  (LEX 18)– A Kentucky woman drowned in the Atlantic Ocean Sunday night while visiting the Emerald Isle. 

It happened around 7 p.m. near The Islander Hotel.

49-year-old Donna Sue Miller, of Clay City, was with a close friend and the friend’s 9-year-old daughter when the three were reportedly caught in a rip current.

The other two individuals made it safely back to shore, however, Miller was located shortly thereafter face down in the water and was brought to shore by bystanders.
