Five People Injured When Car Crashes Into Bourbon County Church During Service

BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Five people were injured when a car crashed into a Bourbon County church on Sunday.

It happened at the Silas Baptist Church on Silas Road in Paris shortly before 6:00p.m. while an evening service was going on. 

Authorities tell LEX 18 a man was driving an estimated 60mph when the speed limit is posted at 35mph. Reportedly the driver overcorrected, traveled 400 feet off the roadway and a full car length into the church.

Authorities say three church members were hurt, two of them were taken to the hospital. Reportedly two of the five people inside of the vehicle were taken to the hospital.

There’s no update on their conditions at this hour.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.

Pastor Curtis Coots says the church building was built in 1850 and it is the oldest church in Bourbon County that has never closed its’ doors since opening.
