DIXON, Ill. (KWQC/LEX 18) – A missing Wayne County trucker was spotted in Illinois and may be on his way to New York, according to our sister station KWQC.
Austin Jones of Monticello has been missing since June 24, 2018. Reportedly that’s the last time Jones’ family heard from him. Jones works with CR England Trucking Company and was on a work trip when he vanished.
The Dixon Illinois Police Department says Jones may be headed towards New York after his truck and personal belongings were found in Dixon.
Investigators say his truck was discovered at a Dixon truck stop with all his personal items still inside on July 5. A state trooper says he gave Jones a ride.
Jones reportedly told the trooper he was headed to New York.
Some of his family members spoke with LEX 18 and asked Jones to get in touch with them.
"Just instantly, your mind goes everywhere. It’s something no family wants to hear," said Austin’s aunt Shannon Downs.
Jones is described as a 24-year-old white male with brown hair, brown eyes, 5’ 5” tall, 141lbs with a medium build.
The Wayne County Sheriff Office is asking anyone with information about Jones’ whereabouts to contact them at 606-348-5416 or call your local 911.
Jones’ family also says they are offering a $25,000 reward for any tip that helps locate him.
