GEORGETOWN, Ky. (LEX 18) – Not having time to find a phone booth to switch into his Superman costume, Detective Lewis Crump jumped into a creek in his suit and tie to save a suspect from drowning.

According to the police department,  Detective Crump ordered a suspect with outstanding warrants to stop. That’s when officials say the man fled into Elkhorn Creek.

Unfortunately, the suspect did not know how to swim.

After only a few seconds, the suspect went under the water and upon surfacing began screaming that he could not swim and was splashing frantically trying to stay above water.

Crump was then able to safely guide the individual to the shore where he was taken into custody without further incident and provided with medical treatment.
