LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Emergency crews responded Saturday morning to a gas leak issuing from manholes in a neighborhood on the city’s northwest side.
Authorities were called out around 11:15 a.m. to Hi Crest and Brynell drives.
The area smelled strongly of the chemical typically added to natural gas, which is odorless, to alert people to leaks.
Lexington fire officials said a leak had been found, and crews were going door to door to check homes. In particular, they were making sure gas wasn’t leaking into basements.
By 11:45 a.m., officials said no evacuations would be required.
