LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) The family of a 26-year-old woman killed in a crash over the weekend in Lexington said that her sudden death has left them heartbroken. Family members reached out to LEX 18 to share how she will be remembered.
The victim’s sister, 12-year-old Tara Lucas, told LEX 18 that her wounds from last weekend’s crash are beginning to heal, but the pain of losing her big sister won’t go away anytime soon.
"My sister was just overall a good person," said Lucas.
Lucas and her sister were two of four people inside the vehicle that crashed on Athens-Boonesboro Road late Saturday night. Lucas told LEX 18 that she remembers another driver running them off the road, and then everything went black.
She woke up in the hospital to the news that her 26-year-old sister, Natasha Nicole Lee, was killed in the crash.
Lucas said she hopes everyone will remember her sister for her big heart.
"She always did her best to help people, even when she had nothing," she said.
The age difference between the sisters only made them closer.
"She was like my mom because she always took care of me," said Lucas.
The family said that Lee is now looking over them all from heaven and they are doing everything in their power to make sure she gets a proper funeral. They’ve created a GoFundMe account and hope that anyone who can help will.
"I want her to be at rest. I just want her to be happy," said Lucas.
