HENRY COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) Kentucky State Police are investigating an incident in which an improvised explosive device was discovered in a trash can at a Pilot Truck Stop on Pendleton Road.
KSP said that on Sunday at 2:36 p.m., they received a call from the Pilot truck stop in Pendleton saying that an employee saw what appeared to be a six-inch pipe bomb in one of the exterior trash cans of the store. The building was evacuated and the perimeter of the building was secured.
A KSP Hazardous Device Unit was dispatched to the scene and examined the item. They rendered the device safe at 5:34 p.m.
At 6:12 p.m., the business reopened.
Evidence was collected and surveillance footage was collected to be examined. KSP opened a case for “Use of Weapon of Mass Destruction”.
The case remains under investigation.
