LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)-  A Lexington teen has been indicted in the murder of a 15-year-old Lafayette High School student earlier this year.

According to an indictment, 16-year-old Malachia Rashon Jackson was charged in the homicide of Kevin Olmeda-Ortiz in February. Olmeda was found shot on Garden Springs Drive after neighbors reported hearing several pops.

It was one of three homicides in a span of six hours in the city.

Detectives say the suspect and victim were acquaintances and that the murder occurred during a robbery. Jackson is also charged with committing first-degree robbery and assault, related to another victim in the case.
