LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – The mint julep can be ….polarizing…to say the least. Some people love the drink and others find it bitter and pass it over for Churchill Downs’ other signature beverage, "The Oaks Lily."
But Whiskey Bear’s Daniel Marlow is a born-again mint julep fan. The secret, he says, is using a higher proof bourbon…as opposed to a top shelf bourbon. The higher the alcohol content, the more the mint and sugar stand out.
