NASHVILLE, Tenn. (LEX 18/WSMV) – A Kentucky company is being blamed for causing the crash that shut down I-40/I-65 in Tennessee over the weekend.
The crash happened just before noon Friday, causing major traffic delays during evening rush hour.
Authorities in Nashville said the truck, operated by D&G Equipment Movers, was hauling a construction water truck through the downtown area when it smashed into a bridge.
It forced the closure of the I-40 East overpass and the interchange for more than 20 hours while Tennessee Department of Transportation officials surveyed the roadway to confirm it was safe for travel.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the company did not have a permit from Tennessee Transportation Officials to haul the load through downtown Nashville.
The company at the center of Friday’s crash is located in Laurel County. LEX 18 went to the office of D & G Equipment Movers to see if anyone would speak to LEX 18 about the crash in downtown Nashville.
A secretary asked LEX 18’s Leigh Searcy to leave the property.
Thankfully, no one was injured.
