LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event began on Thursday and marks 40 years that the event has been held at the Kentucky Horse Park.

It features some of the best competitors in the world, said Stewart Perry, President of Equestrian Events Inc., organizer of the event.

"The notable competitors are those top riders that have been in the Olympics, or that are going to be in the Olympics," Perry said. "…We’re

a four star event which is the only one in the United States. So the top riders come to compete here and then end up going to the Olympics and ride for the United States."

Riders will compete in dressage, cross country and show jumping events throughout the weekend.

"It’s absolutely the best of the best for horses and the best of the best if you just want to come out," he said.

There’s plenty of other activities too, Perry said, like shopping and the chance to test drive a Land Rover for all ages.

More information can be found at the Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event’s website.
