New Lexington Bike Trail Opens

Posted

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington’s Hope Center Bike Trail officially opened Saturday

This new trail is the latest piece of the city’s effort to make Lexington more bike friendly.

It connects the city’s legacy trail to the Coolaven Rail Trail.  It also runs along local businesses like West 6th Brewery, and a lot of people have already been putting the trail to good use.

Lexington Mayor Jim Gray took part in a ceremony to unveil the trail sign Saturday afternoon.

He says every step they make towards making it easier to travel by bike is another step towards improving the quality of life here in the city.

“We’re hoping over time that it encourages people walk bike instead of driving a car perhaps but it’s a great recreation opportunity it’s a great exercise opportunity,” said Mayor Gray.

Mayor Gray says he hopes more people will take advantage of the bike trails as it becomes more convenient to travel through the city.
