Berea Woman Scammed Out Of Thousands Of Dollars

BEREA, Ky. (LEX 18) – Berea Police are investigating after a local woman was scammed out of over $5,000. 

According to police, the woman received a call from a person claiming to be a police officer from Cleveland. The individual told the victim that her grandson had been arrested and that she needed to post bail.

The scammer even put a man on the phone who pretended he was her grandson. 

She was told to send a money order in the amount of $5,060 to get him out of jail. She sent the money but then figured out she had been scammed.
