Rowan Co. District Judge Accused Of Leaving Scene Of Accident

MOREHEAD, Ky (LEX 18) — Morehead Police are pursuing charges against Rowan District Judge William Roberts related to leaving the scene of an accident.

Morehead Police said that on March 10, there were two cars exiting I-64 at exit 137. Police said that one car, driven by Roberts, rear-ended another car and left the scene of the accident. Police said that Roberts then got on the interstate heading toward Farmers. 

A child in the car was taken to the hospital to be checked out but was not injured. The driver managed to the get the tag numbers of Roberts’ vehicle.

When police arrived at the judge’s residence, they discovered that his car had damage to the front of it. Police said he did not deny that the accident happened. 

Police have filed charges with a Rowan County attorney. Police say they will seek a special prosecutor for the case.
