66-year-old woman severely injured in East Bernstadt home explosion, KSP reports

UPDATE: Feb. 13 at 9:30 a.m.

Kentucky State Police reports that the explosion occurred on Feb. 12 around 3:16 p.m. at a home on Glenview Road in northern Laurel County.

According to KSP, when firefighters arrived on the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

KSP says that the homeowner, "66-year-old Shirley Wynn, sustained severe burns covering about 80 percent of her body" and has been transferred to a specialized burn treatment facility in Louisville.

A fire investigator with KSP says an investigation shows that the explosion may have been caused by propane gas used for floor space heaters.

The East Bernstadt Fire and Rescue reports that one person was severely injured in a home explosion.

According to officials, the person was transported by ambulance to Saint Joseph Health in London.

Kentucky State Police are helping in the investigation.
