Angie Beavin joined the LEX 18 news team in August 2015 as a reporter and she anchors LEX 18 News at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The move to Lexington was as much personal as it was professional for Angie. She was born and raised in Lexington, and is excited to be back in the Bluegrass.
She came back to the “Horse Capital of the World” after living in the “Live Music Capital of the World.” Angie worked at NBC affiliate KXAN in Austin, Texas. Angie fell in love with Austin, as most people do, and knows she’ll miss the milder winters of central Texas.
This isn’t Angie’s first time working in news in the Lexington market. She was a reporter with WKYT before she went to Austin. Angie’s journalism career started in the mountains of eastern Kentucky at WYMT. Angie went to the University of Kentucky where she majored in journalism and minored in political science. She of course cheers on UK in everything they do.
Angie is married and has little black Rat Terrier mix. His name is Reuben and he’s the best dog in the world. She enjoys being outside and playing sports and trying new restaurants. She’s thrilled to be back in a city near and dear to her and is thankful she gets to tell stories of central and eastern Kentuckians to make a difference in their lives and enrich the community.
