LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — It's been almost one week since a man was shot and killed on Florence Avenue in Lexington.
Now police have identified the person they believe is responsible, and the victim’s family is trying to cope with the loss.
“He had a wonderful sense of humor, he was so outgoing he made friends with everyone,” said Casey Smith.
It's been a week full of reflection for the family of Carroll Martin. He was murdered last week and his family has been left brokenhearted.
“I don't think we even really knew how to react for at least a couple days until its all set in and it's been a little crazy,” said Smith.
Martin was found shot to death outside a home on Florence Avenue on September 15th.
For days his family was left with little answers.
But on Saturday Lexington Police released the name of a suspect. 21-year-old Jeremy Jovontae Jackson has an active warrant for murder.
Even though he isn't in custody this new development is good news for Martin's family. His step son Casey Smith and wife Vickie Martin have been praying for answers.
“We've been hoping for this all week, I know that she’s been talking to the detective, I've talked to the detective we absolutely want justice and we are so happy maybe we will get some of that, whether it's this person or not we know they are working hard on it,” said Smith.
If anyone knows anything about Jackson's whereabouts they are asked to call police at 859-258-3600
