MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (Mt. Sterling Advocate) — The Mt. Sterling Advocate is reporting that Welch Road was closed Thursday during a homicide investigation.
Around 12:10 p.m. Thursday, authorities were called to a report of a shooting.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
The paper reported that Montgomery County Sheriff David Charles said his office was searching for 54-year-old David N. Willoughby in connected to the case.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that the person who is alleged to have committed the crime is also now deceased and there is no threat to anyone else in the area. In Jackson County, troopers told LEX 18 that the coroner has identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting as Willoughby.
