FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — You have got to be kitten me. Mechanics at the Midas in Frankfort helped free a stowaway kitten discovered under a car.

Mechanics spent an hour working on the car to free the kitten, whose head was trapped in a hole in the vehicle's subframe. It took a little bit of soap and elbow grease, but eventually the kitten was freed. The car owner offered to pay the mechanics for their service, but they refused.

They believe the cat had been stuck all the way from Lexington to Versailles to Frankfort. Once the cat was freed, managers took the her to the vet where, other than some minor scratches, she received a clean bill of health.

The store took name suggestions from Facebook fans and ended up choosing to call the sweet kitten "Marigold." She was not microchipped, but she quickly found a new home.
