MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — After more than a year of preparation, the Madison Central High School marching band is just days away from performing in front of tens of millions of Americans.
In just a few days, 280 high school students will embark on a trip of a lifetime to New York, where they will march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
"It really feels like it's not just me performing," said junior Mackenzie Caldwell. "I have all of my team with me, and I'm not really that scared at all."
Shortly after the students wrapped up their final practice Saturday, the band's director echoed that message of confidence.
"I work with the best kids," David Jaggie said. "They're wonderful people. They treat each other well, they're brilliant artists on their instruments, and them putting together all of this in a matter of weeks is moving, really."
The Madison Central High School marching band will be one of six high school bands to perform in this year's parade.
