Kentucky among states covered by spinach recall

INDIANAPOLIS (LEX 18 / WTHR) — Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling a number of cases of baby spinach shipped to several states, including Kentucky.

The products being recalled are 6-ounce Dole Baby Spinach bag and 10-ounce Dole Baby Spinach clamshell.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the reason for the recall is due to a risk of salmonella contamination.

The lot codes for the recalled spinach are:

  • Lot code W20308A, UPC code: 0-71430-00964-2
  • Lot code W203010, UPC code 0-7-1430-00016-8

Both have a use-by date of Aug. 5, 2019.

The recalled items were distributed to Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Consumers with this product should throw them away.
