While back-to-school season and even heading to work every morning is looking different for many of us right now, there’s one thing that hasn’t changed — you still need to eat breakfast.
But even if you’re working from home and your kids are attending virtual school, that doesn’t mean you have tons of extra time in the morning to prepare breakfast. In fact, you might even be busier in the morning! It’s times like these when we’re all looking for comforting meals to help us feel a little better.
That’s why Jimmy Dean decided to combine convenience and comfort in this new line of easy-to-prepare casserole bites that have everything you love about a comforting breakfast casserole but without all the work and mess.
Casserole bites come in three varieties: two savory (sausage, egg and cheese, and Meat Lovers) and one sweet (French toast). They are made with seasoned Jimmy Dean pork sausage, eggs and other breakfast favorites like bacon, potatoes and cheese. Ready in the microwave in less than one minute, they can be eaten quickly as you’re heading out the door or as a mid-day snack or pick-me-up if you’re working from home.
You can find them in the frozen aisle of retail stores nationwide beginning this fall. Each bag contains about three servings and costs around $6.79. Each serving has 8-12 grams of protein.
The brand is also releasing another new breakfast item — Delights breakfast wraps. The wraps come in three varieties: spinach and bacon, turkey sausage and veggie, and Southwest style, which also has turkey sausage. They are made with vegetables, white cheddar cheese and scrambled eggs wrapped up in a whole-wheat tortilla.
Each wrap has 13-14 grams of protein and 17 grams of whole grains. Each box comes with four wraps and costs around $7.29.
Back to bite-sized breakfast foods: You can also find Vital Farms’ new Egg Bites at Whole Foods and select Target locations. The bites offer single-serve refrigerated bites made with pasture-raised eggs and cheese, humanely-raised meats and vegetables.
The egg bites come in four flavors: meat-lovers can try out the bacon and cheddar cheese bites, or the bites with ham, bell peppers, onions and cheddar cheese. For vegetarians, there are bites made with roasted red pepper and mozzarella cheese, or Italian-style bites that include sun-dried tomato, basil and mozzarella cheese.
