JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A horse rescue group out of Jessamine County is helping a horse that was shot in eastern Kentucky.

The Kentucky Equine Adoption Center posted on their Facebook page that they took in the paint horse named Tammy on Tuesday night.

Tammy was rescued in Perry County according to a Facebook post by the woman who says she found the horse and called for help.

According to KyEAC, Tammy was shot in both sides of her buttocks and is receiving care at Park Equine.

Veterinarians were also surprised to learn during an exam that Tammy is about 7 months pregnant.

Fortunately, the foal and Tammy are both said to be doing well.

KyEAC is a non-profit and they need donations to help cover the cost of Tammy's care.
