“The safety of our students, staff, and families will continue to be the primary consideration in everything we do,” FCPS Superintendent Manny Caulk said.
Jefferson County Public Schools has also scheduled a special Board of Education meeting for 7 p.m. Monday to discuss the fall sports schedule.
A source told LEX 18 that Fayette Co. Athletic Directors had a meeting to discuss cancelling the first game of the season, scheduled for September 11.
As of Friday evening, Henry Clay has been the only school to cancel any games, cancelling its first two games of the season against Pulaski Co. and Frederick Douglass.
The other athletic directors will wait and see what the board will say when they meet again on Monday.
