LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Nine year-old Jia Rivera asked Santa for a special gift this year: help feeding Lexington's homeless on Christmas.

After collecting donations from friends and family, Jia and her parents hit the streets on Christmas Day.

They passed out care packages and food to about 25 people and live streamed it on Facebook.

"It makes me feel, like you know, that they aren't just like people left on the side of the road. They're more than that," said Jia.

Next year, Jia said she's hoping to double the number of people she helped this year.

Phoenix Heating and Air and Bridgford Foods also donated to Jia's cause.
