Talk about a scorcher! Lexington's temperature hit the mid 90s this afternoon. Making this the hottest day of the year. Be prepared to sweat tomorrow. High temperatures will return to the low and mid 90s with heat indices near 100° through the afternoon. Be smart in this heat! Take frequent breaks in the AC or the shade. Stay hydrated. Dress in light-weight, light colored clothing. Check in on your neighbors and pets.

There is some relief coming. The pumped up ridge that has kept the heat and humidity simmering will break down a bit over the coming days. In turn, storm chances will ramp up during the middle of the week. The best chances will come on Wednesday. Some storms could be on the strong side Tuesday and Wednesday. At the same time temperatures will "cool" off with highs running in the mid to upper 80s. Friday will be a treat with highs in the mid 80s and the muggies will briefly take a break. The forecast quickly turns back to typical late August conditions next weekend.
