(LEX 18) — The FBI is working to put to rest a persistent internet rumor claiming a school shooting is being planned in Kentucky.
The FBI Louisville's official Twitter account posted a message Monday saying there is no evidence indicating that a vague threat against schools is credible.
The original threat was against schools in Kentucky for Aug. 28, and schools in Arkansas for Aug. 29. According to a Facebook post from Lincoln County Public Schools, the threat didn't name a specific school in either state, it also was very generalized.
FBI Louisville said that if you see something suspicious online, contact local law enforcement or FBI.
FBI Louisville is aware of an unspecified internet threat against schools in Kentucky (08/28) and Arkansas (08/29). There is no evidence indicating this threat is credible. However, if you see something suspicious online or in person, contact local law enforcement or the FBI.
