It runs in the family. A baby boy in San Antonio, Texas, was delivered by the very same doctor who delivered his mom 25 years earlier.
Lauren Cortez was born on March 23, 1995, with the help of Dr. Bryan Cox, an OB-GYN who has now been practicing for 33 years.
Cortez’s mom, Isabel Luna, has been a patient of Dr. Cox for over two decades. Two years after delivering baby Lauren, he also delivered her brother. So when Cortez got pregnant, it only made sense for Dr. Cox to deliver her baby, too.
“Lauren came to me as a pregnant lady and she was all excited because her mom loves me, so it was a great situation,” Dr. Cox told “Good Morning America.” “It was fun the whole pregnancy.”
On July 26, 2020, Cortez and Dr. Cox welcomed her son, Logan James, into the world together.
“Dr. Cox, right when the baby is born, he sings ‘Happy Birthday,'” Cortez told “GMA.” “The fact that he takes that little time to personalize the birth experience meant a lot to me. My mom said he sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to me, and to my brother who was born in ’97.”
Now that the family’s journey with Dr. Cox has come full circle, Cortez says she hopes that Dr. Cox stays in practice for long enough to help Logan deliver his own baby, too.
Naturally, Cortez and Dr. Cox recreated the 25-year-old photos of her birth with her own son. The new mom posted the photos side-by-side on Twitter, and the response has been amazing.

Some people even chimed in with similar multi-generational birth stories.
“I love how this is more common than most people think!” Cortez replied to one user on Twitter. “Something special about these generational deliveries. Definitely worth recreating a photo for!”
