Voter Turnout Appears High

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– It appears that Kentuckians went to the polls in large numbers today.

At Frederick Douglass High School, voters waited for about an hour for their turn.  This was before the lunch hour. Some polling places reported two-hour waits, and while some voters did leave, most took it in stride and were happy to be a part of the process, regardless of how long the lines were.

Many were even pleasantly shocked by the turnout.

I was kind of surprised with the lines, for a midterm, it’s so long, even the presidential wasn’t as long as this one,” said voter Jessica Clark. “It was my pleasure to wait. People died for us to vote. People were hung for us to vote. So this is our obligation.”

We will update this story as more comes in on the voter turnout. You can check the results of the election here.
