Even as the calendar moves closer and closer to fall, there are still several weeks left of summer weather. This means that even as we start to crave pumpkin spice lattes, it might still be too warm outside to truly enjoy one.
But don’t worry, Dairy Queen has the fall flavor solution: Put it in ice cream, of course! DQ’s new Pumpkin Cookie Butter Shake blends cookie butter made from ground cinnamon spice cookies and pumpkin with vanilla soft serve and milk. It is then topped with whipped cream and nutmeg for a cozy — but cool — autumnal treat.
That’s not the only pumpkin dessert you’ll find at Dairy Queen this fall, as the ice cream chain’s Pumpkin Pie Blizzard will be returning to the menu. The fall treat is a combination of real pumpkin pie pieces and creamy vanilla soft serve, topped with whipped topping and a touch of nutmeg.
A Dairy Queen PR rep tells us both treats will be available beginning Aug. 31 at participating DQ locations nationwide.
While you wait for the new treats, Dairy Queen currently has some other shakes that sound perfect for the end of summer.
In addition to the classics like chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter, DQ also offers more indulgent flavors like chocolate cake, strawberry cake and tiramisu cake, which has pieces of vanilla cake blended with coffee concentrate and cocoa powder.
If you’re just totally over summer by now and eager for fall flavors ASAP, try your hand at making a pumpkin-flavored dessert, like this no-bake pumpkin pie or this pumpkin cheesecake lasagna, which has graham cracker crust, layers of mousse-like pumpkin cream, cheesecake filling, whipped cream and caramel drizzle.
If you’re wanting something a little bit cozier and warmer, this pumpkin pie crunch cake might do the trick instead. It calls for pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, yellow cake mix and pecans, so it is full of fall flavor.
