BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – When Cy Hemsath moved to Boone County earlier this year, he was having trouble fitting in.

His mother Tiffany tells LEX 18 that the young boy was having issues making friends and adjusting overall.

“Cy has really struggled since our move to Kentucky to find his “crew” and a group that he feels he belongs in. We’ve had so many countless nights of tearful conversations about his feelings of being left out and ignored. Very big feelings for a little boy and my mommy heart breaks a little more with each tear that streams down his face,” wrote Hemsath in a Facebook post.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team heard about his struggles to adjust and decided to give him a special surprise. They reached out to teacher Whitney Scudder at Eprenbeck Elementary and organized a presentation to honor the young boy.

The department made Cy an honorary member of the SWAT Team, citing his worth ethic and kindness to his fellow students. They also brought donuts to celebrate with his classmates.
