With a score of 297, archer Cole Murphy of Lafayette tied for third place among boys in the 2018 NASP Eastern Nationals tournament in Louisville, which concluded May 12. More than 2,500 high school boys and nearly 7,500 total boys competed. Cole also tied for second place among the 683 sophomores.
Overall, Lafayette’s strongest group ranked eighth out of 237 teams in the tournament.
The National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) coordinates these competitions. While archery is co-ed at the national level, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association in 2017-18 began offering separate boys’ (or co-ed) and girls’ regional and state tournaments in this sanctioned sports activity.
