LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Oleika Shriners hosted their annual Christmas party for patients at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center and their immediate families on Saturday.

The event, held at the Oleika Shriner Center, featured entertainment by a group of clowns, as well as an opportunity for children to take pictures with Santa.

Each child was given the chance to comb through the “Toy Room,” where they could pick any toy they wanted.

Brittany Hoskins was there with her daughter, "With her having the brittle bone, we have to worry about if there are breaks and stu, and what she can and cannot do. But things like this, it's oriented around her and other kids, that they can. They don't have to say, 'No you can't do that'!"

The Shriners described the event as an opportunity to “help families who might not otherwise have a family Christmas.”

Organizers said the event aligns with their idea of “patients being seen regardless of their ability to pay.”
