It’s hard to find a more delicious and comforting meal than a giant bowl of macaroni and cheese, and there’s a new mac and cheese that might make you seriously reconsider your current favorite box for an at-home fix.
In a move that is surely going to make all of your cheesy dreams come true, Cheetos is officially going from bag to box with a new line of macaroni and cheese!
Available in three varieties — bold & cheesy, flamin’ hot and cheesy jalapeño — Cheeto’s mac and cheese is made with Chester’s Top-Secret Seasoning and corkscrew pasta noodles inspired by Chester’s cheetah tail.
“We’ve seen incredible culinary creativity from our Cheetos fans through the years, taking our product and using as an actual ingredient in recipes — whether at restaurants, or now more than ever, at home,” Rachel Ferdinando, SVP and CMO Frito-Lay North America said in a press release. “Cheetos Mac ‘n Cheese borrows that culinary inspiration to provide a mischievous mashup of an ordinary fan favorite.”
You’ll find the new Cheetos mac and cheese in both single box and cup formats exclusively at Walmart stores nationally or online for around 98 cents beginning Aug. 8. (However, the flamin’ hot flavor in a box is showing up on Walmart’s site at $.96 at the moment.)
Cheetos says it will be available at other national retailers in 2021.
People have indeed been using flamin’ hot Cheetos for all sorts of foods, from crushing them to coat a Thanksgiving turkey to adding them to a Blood Mary, proving they are no longer just for snacking.
Some restaurants have even gotten in on the Cheeto-flavored foods, with KFC making a Cheetos chicken sandwich and Burger King selling Mac & Cheetos, a Cheeto-shaped mashup that consisted of a crispy, Cheeto-like outer layer and a gooey mac-and-cheese filling.
Are you a fan of flamin’ hot Cheetos? Which mac and cheese will you be trying first?
